Some preliminary parameters for FELIX
(remarks and questions to Karsten Eggert)

Luminosities and run scenario

Acceptances and momentum resolutions for charged particles

The detection efficiency per track is better than 98 %. The lowest detectable transverse momentum is less than 50 MeV.

Diffractive protons

 detectable range: (p beam - p diffr.)/p beam = to

(p beam - p diffr.)/(p beam - p diffr.) = 10%

Elastically scattered protons

t - range: - 20

Electromagnetic calorimetry for photons and electrons

 energy resolution : E/E=0.005 0.08/ (E in GeV)

granularity : =

energy threshold : E thr = 0.2 GeV

The scenario in the range 2 is not yet defined; assume as above for the moment. For small angles the calorimeter is subdivided in squares of R = 0.1R and s = 0.1R, i.e. 64 subdivisions in .

Particle identification for the region

Electrons

Identification possible by comparison of momentum measurement in the spectrometer and energy measurement in the electromagnetic calorimeter.

Muons

Identification possible for transverse momenta above 2 GeV.
